Sadhguru Shree Thyagaraja Aradhana Invitation

Sadhguru Shree Thyagaraja Aradhana
Saturday 28th January 2017
17:00 to 20:00 hrs
Venue: Hanchurch Villiage Hall, Whitmore Road, Hanchurch Stoke on Trent ST5 4DG
Come and enjoy an evening of divine classical Carnatic music performed by accomplished local musicians in homage to the great saint composer Sadhguru Shree Thyagaraja. Saint Tyagaraja was one of the greatest composers of Carnatic (South Indian classical) music. He composed thousands of devotional songs, most in Telugu and in praise of Lord Rama. Of special mention are five of his compositions called the Pancharatna kritis (“five gem compositions”). Thyagaraja Aradhana is the annual aradhana (Ceremony of Adoration) of the saint composer. The aradhana is observed on Pushya Bahula Panchami day (17/01/2017) when the saint attained Samadhi. Carnatic musicians on this day honour him by singing his compositions including the Pancharatna kritis which are rendered in chorus. We in Stoke are observing this day to also pay tributes to all composers and musicians who have enriched Carnatic music over the centuries.
